Kirklees Social Forestry Officer, Julian Faulkner, and Hilary Dodson of the Northern Fruit Group will be holding two courses in March on the art of grafting old Engish apple varieties onto root stock. To encourage more people to grow their own fruit, Julian is hoping to develop a Community Orchard scheme, whereby community groups will undertake to create orchards in currently unised pockets of land. Any groups intereseted in taking part in the project, or who can identify suitable areas of land, should contact Julian.
